a) More sophisticated complex structure becomes visible within the CENSUS data model definition after refining the raw CENSUS data. Collapsing trees of Documents, Monuments, and Bibliographic Citations; breaking down ‘unknown‘ Monument, Person, Location, Date and Style nodes; and reordering the matrix in a meaningful way, results in a much more useful depiction of the entire database. b) The refined CENSUS data model matrix conveys more information in less space, even without node-link diagram enrichment (cf. Figure 4).
